No fences, No social references
No roads, No people
I’ll paint (tell), you something
They were routed, From their fastness
In Eons pass’d, Across The Vast Divide

About the Artist
Ben Cahill is a Sydney artist who paints stunning landscapes featuring cloud-shadowed mountains, distant lookout peaks and dry rocky escarpments of the Southern Highlands, a place that is close to his heart. His work conveys with real skill and feeling, the atmospheric distances and the golden light of dusk and dawn. Ben has worked in landscape for the last 10 years, returning to focus on this geographic area in particular.
Ben’s background in abstract painting brings qualities to his work, while he subtly references and honours the past masters of Australian landscape painting. This latest display of oils on canvas reveals the evolution of his vision and ability to capture breathtaking scenes.
Ben has a BA (visual art) from COFA, graduating in 1991. A prolific painter, he has had numerous, successful, solo shows at The Newsagency Gallery since 2012. His work has been acquired for collections in Australia and overseas and can be found in both private and public collections.
