PAPER WORKS a group show
April 26 – May 12
Open 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday or by appointment.
332 Stanmore Rd Petersham.
Five artists make work on paper
Callum Docherty makes images that portray a childlike world of confusion, drawing influence from the Spanish Surrealists and Abstract Expressionism.
Daniel Smith creates intriguing snippets, small meaningful ideas and beautiful one liners that sit awkwardly and tenderly on the paper.
Jo Ann Cahill is a buxom redhead who survived CoFA and is armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons 1st class). Her water colours explore notions of supposed reality by re-contextualising a myriad of costumed figures, mined from the depths of the internet.
Elisa Malo was born in a misty city in Mexico and is currently based in new York, she likes to draw and photograph disturbing and beautiful things. Her favorite flowers are gardenias and her favorite colour is mint.
Zoe Tubbenhauer creates characters that are in limbo between childhood and adulthood and aloneness and togetherness. She approaches her image-making with a mix of tenderness and twisted logic.
