Children of the River – an exhibition of contemporary works by Rachel Lafferty Rantzen
Newsagency Gallery
332 Stanmore Road Petersham
7 – 21st February
Opening night 7th February 6pm – late
Children of the River will showcase paintings, sculpture, film and performance from 3 series of Rachel’s work all produced in the last 5 years. The show investigates the structures of the city and the wide range of people who choose to live within them. It closely examines the pipelines and vents that supply water oxygen and electricity to the city’s skyscrapers and apartment buildings. Rachel says of her figurative work,
“A child’s way of seeing is both endearing and uncanny. I try in these works to paint from a child’s point of view, with the same immediate, unconscious clarity of the child which I am painting. In so doing, I try to discover the otherworldliness that exists within both children and adults”
Rachel is a multi-disciplined artists who experiments with a range of mediums to express a raw visual language of her own. Join us on friday 7th Feb for an eventful night.
